Morecambe Maritime Festival proudly presents:
Gerry French & Harry Lowrey
Gerry Ffrench is one of the best singer songwriter working in the UK today and together with Harry Lowrey ex Stormalong John and Yesterdays Men, they perform in Folkclubs across the North, Northwest and Wales.
Her songs tell stories of people’s lives past and present in the great melting pot of Liverpool in its maritime heyday, often from the point of view of the wives and sweethearts left behind.
Songs such as When the WInd Blows Up from the Mersey and Cunard Yanks do just this, while Bound for Glory and The Old Carmania recount the amazing tales of the city’s vessels at war.

Lawrence Hoy & Steve Higgins
With standards like John Kanaka and traditional sea songs such as The Holy Ground, The Leaving Of Liverpool, The Mingulay Boat Song and Billy O’Shea, they have a repertoire as wide as the Atlantic
They play traditional and contemporary songs of the sea, including self-penned songs, some written as sea shanties (Shantyman; Blow Ye Trade Winds, Blow) and some better defined as ‘songs of the sea’: eg – songs like ‘Lady Penrhyn’ from the album “Beyond The Seas, a tribute to those on Australia’s first fleet (Lady Penrhyn was one of the ships on that voyage.)
